Most Mondays and Saturdays - Shirley Historical Society Museum
open 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. for visitors, researchers, and volunteers

Our current display is all about GLASS. It will stay up through March 6th.

Saturday January 23rd - 10:00 AM - Opening of Museum display on GLASS. It will include collections of bottles, eyeglasses, and dishware plus photos of interesting Shirley windows.

Sunday February 7th - 1:00 - 3:00 PM - Quilting Bee at the Museum. Come learn stitches to do on a crazy quilt square. No experience required.

Thursday February 11th - 6:00 PM - at the Museum - Button Club meeting

Saturday February 13th - St. Anthony's Mardi Gras Supper and Entertainment

Sunday February 21st - 1:00 - 3:00 PM - Quilting Bee at the Museum. Come learn how to stitch the front of a quilt to the back. No experience required.

Friday February 27th at 7:00 PM and Saturday the 28th at 2:00 PM - at Shirley Middle School - ShirleyArts! presents The Seussification of Romeo and Juliet. go to www.shirleyarts.org for more information.

Friday March 12th at the Museum - 7:00 PM - Historical Society Business meeting. 7:30 PM - Dr. Lesley-Ann Dubigny-Giroux, Vermont's state climatologist, will explain how Diaries Can Help Track Climate Changes.

Thursday April 8th - 6:00 PM - at the Museum - Button Club meeting.

Sunday April 11th - The Historical Society will have a display at the Nashua Valley Railroad Association Fair at the Shirley Middle School between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

May 7th, 8th, and 15th at 7:30 PM, and 16th at 2:30 PM - at Shirley Middle School - ShirleyArts! presents - the musical comedy - The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Go to www.shirleyarts.org for details.

Friday May 14th at the Museum - 7:00 PM - Historical Society Business meeting. 7:30 PM - Dr. Dave Orwig, a forest ecologist from the Harvard Forest, will talk about Our Native Trees, how insects, diseases, and other factors have changed our woodlands over time.  The new Museum display will include photos and maps and samples of Shirley trees.

Sunday May 30th - Shirley Memorial Day Observances. Ecumenical memorial service at First Parish Meetinghouse, comemoration in the Center, parade in the Village.

Saturday June 5th - On the Common - Noon to 6:00 PM - Shirley All Town Hoe Down - Entertainment, food, crafts, games, demonstrations, free admission. Come support your local non-profit organizations. To participate, click here.

Thursday June 10th - 6:00 PM - at the Museum - Button Club meeting.

Saturday July 10th - at the Museum -7:00 PM - Historical Society Business meeting. 7:30 PM - Opening reception for display on Wedding Trousseaus. A variety of clothing and items for the wedding hope chest will be modeled, displayed, and discussed. Members are invited to share items from their hope chests.

August 6th and 7th - St. Anthony's Bazaar - food, games, sales

Sunday August 8th - 1:00 PM - Guided tour of the Shirley Shaker Village site. Reservations MUST be made in advance. Contact the SHS Museum for details.

Friday September 10th - at the Museum -7:00 PM - Historical Society Business meeting. 7:30 PM - Opening reception for display on Bemis Company History.
This business is 100 years old in 2010 and has spent over a dozen years here in Shirley. Come learn and see what they are all about.

Sunday September 12th - 1:00 PM - Guided tour of the Shirley Shaker Village site. Reservations MUST be made in advance. Contact the SHS Museum for details.

Saturday October 2nd - at the Museum - 9:20 AM - 2:30 PM - Annual Autumn Sale Day - books, baked goods, crafts, yard sale items, gift shop souvenirs. Donations and customers are needed.

Sunday October 10th - 1:00 PM - Guided tour of the Shirley Shaker Village site. Reservations MUST be made in advance. Contact the SHS Museum for details.

Thursday November 11th - 11:00 AM - Veteran's Day Observances at Whiteley Park.

Friday November 12th at 6:00 PM - in the United Church Fellowship Hall - Pot luck supper followed by annual meeting and 7:30 PM program all about Barbershop Music.
